Born without a right hand, Mike has accomplished much in his life.

Child Actor

As a child, Mike played the role of “Danny” in the movie “The Trial of Billy Jack”, the third highest grossing film of 1974. His was a pivotal role in the movie.

Pro Bowler

As a young adult he became the first one handed person to earn his PBA card and compete on the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) tour.

Cancer Survivor

In 2016, Mike was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, a type of throat cancer. He endured a nine-hour surgery and 30 rounds of radiation.

Since surviving cancer, Mike has checked a box off his bucket list by becoming a Comedian. He performs all over the Valley and throughout the Southwest

Nonprofit Founder

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Bolland.

Mike, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve had a pretty interesting life. I was born without a right hand, but that has never been a roadblock for me. I have my parents to thank for that. I am from New Jersey originally, and I moved with my family when I was very young to Mesa in the 70’s. At that point in my life, I wore a hook; my parents had me learn how to use one so I could choose as an adult whether to use one in my daily life. Mike Bolland to produce video series “How I do things with one hand”

Mesa, AZ – Mike Bolland, who was born without a right hand, has started to create a video series on how he does every common things despite having only one hand.  Bolland, who played Danny in the motion picture “The Trial of Billy Jack”, started the series as a way to show others that a lot is possible despite what others may consider a handicapped. Being a comedian, however, makes the videos not only interesting but fun at the same time.

“People always ask questions like ‘how do you tie your shoes’, so I thought that and other things I am able to do would make a great video series” Bolland said. “And of course, I have to throw some fun in the videos”.

Scottsdale, AZ – One handed comedian Mike Bolland, who recently started a web series called “How I do things with one hand”, is producing and performing in his first ever “Comedically Challenged” comedy show at the Scottsdale Comedy Spot on Sunday, March 8 2020. This event will feature four comedians who have different life challenges: The Headliner is Mike Bolland, a cancer survivor who was born without a right hand. Also performing their stand-up routines are Chris Cluff, who was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, Richard Prange, who was born with Jackson Weiss Syndrome (a deformity that affects the face and head) and Zach Tunstill, who has Tourette’s Syndrome . All proceeds after expenses from this show will go to Parkinson’s research. Discount Tire will be matching the funds raised from this event.
